Charlie O'Donnell, Wheel of Fortune Announcer, Dies

One of the most recognizable voices in television history was silenced. Charlie O’Donnell died Sunday night in sleep. He was 78.

O’Donnell’s voice was heard for decades on the hit game show Wheel of Fortune.

Along with that long, and quite noticable stint, O’Donnell also had ties to New York.

He was a popular DJ at WOR-FM in the mid-1960s.

While there, O’Donnell became part of music history, chosen by Simon and Garfunkel as the newscaster on their song 7 O’Clock News/Silent Night for their Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme:
