Columbia J-School 'Magic Grant' Recipients Highlight Journalism as Storytelling

It’s always awe-inspiring to read about the Stanford and Columbia Journalism School projects gifted with grants from The Brown Institute for Media Innovation.

On the Stanford side, one of the four ventures chosen is Gistraker, a Web application that looks at possible media bias by generating visual summaries of how different outlets are covering the same story. Meanwhile, at Columbia, where four projects were also selected, a student in the documentary film program is going use the money to expand his look at how the drag renaissance in Bushwick, Brooklyn is making clever use of social media.
