Boston Globe Editor Brian McGrory: 'A City, A Nation Turned to Us, And We Delivered'

Sound the bugles — Boston Globe editor Brian McGrory just sent out his Gen. Patton-like email to his ink-stained wretches in the trenches.

“Please be very proud of what this great news organization did yesterday — and will continue to do in the coming days,” he wrote in the memo, obtained by FishbowlNY. “A city, a nation turned to us, and we delivered.”

McGrory’s gift of gab is not far off from that of his predecessor, Marty Baron, who left five months ago to become executive editor of the Washington Post.

Baron was known for his eloquent praise whenever the Globe‘s staff was called to arms for special coverage of storms, disasters and breaking news.
