Big NHL Numbers for MSG Network at Halfway Point

Don’t tell MSG Network that New York City isn’t a hockey town. The latest Nielsen numbers paint a different picture at the midway point in the abbreviated 2012-13 season.

After 21 games on MSG Networks, Rangers games are soaring compared to last season. The Blueshirts have averaged a 1.80 household rating, up 82 percent from 2011-12. The comparison with the key demographic, adults 25 to 54 is up a staggering 141 percent.

As for the Devils, through 24 telecasts, the household indicator is up 67 percent, while adults 25 to 54 have increased 89 percent.

But it’s the Islanders fans who have really returned following the lockout, with many new viewers in the fray.
