Nearly five years in the making, the largest ever Roy Lichtenstein retrospective is now dazzling visitors to the Art Institute of Chicago, where it is on view through September 3 before moving to the National Gallery and then overseas (for stints next year at Tate Modern and the Centre Pompidou). James Rondeau, who curated the exhibition with Sheena Wagstaff, has something of a history with the artist. Twenty years ago, he interned at the Guggenheim when the museum prepping the last major Lichtenstein retrospective.
