Automation At WPCO-TV Cincinnati Means Lost Jobs

WCPO-TV is automating studio and control room operations next spring in a way that will eliminate more than a dozen jobs, reports the Cincinnati Enquirer.

VP and general manager Bill Fee didn’t say what employees would be affected or even how many, but former WCPO employees told the Enquirer that 11 full-time and 5 part-time jobs could be at risk. When WDTN-TV in nearby Dayton introduced an automated production system, the station cut camera operators, the floor director, audio engineer and graphics operator.
