Associated Press Has A New Sports Content Guru

Jim Kathman (pictured) has just been named by The Associated Press as their new Global Director of AP Sports Products. It’s a new position at the venerable wire service… and an interesting one. According to the AP, he’ll have “responsibility for driving the strategic and financial growth” of AP sports coverage.

Here’s the kicker: Kathman’s old post was as the AP’s Director of Marketing Strategy for Broadcast. Before that, Kathman worked on strategic planning for Dow Chemical, Perot Systems (yes, that Perot) and Best Software.
