LinkedIn has launched its widely-touted button that, instead of just letting you “plus-one” or “like” something, will let you actually apply for a job right on the spot.
The company announced the button was live today at noon, according to John Zappe, writing at The Fordyce Letter.
If a company already has an applicant tracking system (ATS) in place, the button will transfer the information from your LinkedIn profile straight into the ATS (so, no more re-typing everything that was already on your resume into those stupid little boxes). This works so far with Smartrecruiters, Jobvite, Bullhorn, Peoplefluent, and Jobscience. ATSes Taleo, Kenexa, and Lumesse are in progress.
If the company doesn’t have an ATS, clicking the Apply With LinkedIn button will email your profile directly to the company.
Supposedly, Netflix, Photobucket, and LivingSocial are among the first to have added the new button to their job listings; Netflix was the only one of the three where we saw the button actually live (as of 4:45pm EST; we’re sure the buttons will go up on the other sites soon). Here‘s one job posting with the button in action.
The actual process seems pretty straightforward; we clicked the button and it brought up a window asking us to review our profile. Seemed like it would have taken only one more click to actually apply for the job. That’s fast.
