AP Profiles Awkward Black Girl Creator Issa Rae
The AP has a nice profile of the online TV-show The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl and its creator Issa Rae. The 26-year-old LA native started the show last February while in New York on a public theater fellowship. It immediately took off and each episode now has an average audience of 100,000 people or so.
Rae credits social media for her success. She ran out of money to produce the show after her sixth episode, and turned to the fundraising site Kickstarter.com
