AOL Lures NYTer Away

Aol has hired Saul Hansell, New York Times tech writer, to be Programming Director at Aol’s new Seed.com freelance platform/Demand Studios killer.

Hansell volunteered to take the New York Times buyout.

Now he’s the first editorial hire for the newly-announced freelance platform, which is expected to launch before the end of the year.

It’s not news that AOL (or Aol) has been hiring mainstream, talented journalists, but the idea that the company’s “content mill” will be staffed by a former NYTer is heartening.
