A Down Syndrome Book Bathed in Love

Alt-weekly managing editor Amy Silverman's side project was released last month.

MyHeartCantEvenBelieveItCoverThe reviews have been uniformly ecstatic for My Heart Can’t Even Believe It: A Story of Love, Science and Down Syndrome. Written by veteran journalist Amy Silverman, currently the managing editor of alt-weekly the Phoenix New Times, the memoir is all about the challenges of raising a daughter born with the disability.

Ahead of a book signing event Friday in Tucson, Patty Machelor of the Arizona Daily Star shared this fascinating tidbit about the origins of the book’s title:

The title is a partial quote of [daughter] Sophie’s, a proclamation of love she made to her mother a few years back as Silverman was about to board a plane for New York City.
