Alleged Killer of Former WABC Newsman George Weber Convicted of Murder

John Katehis was convicted yesterday of murdering former WABC-AM newsman George Weber, and could get up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced December 7.

This jury came back within a day. The first trial ended in a mistrial last year, as the jury was deadlocked after several days of deliberations.

The defense argued that Weber, who was working for ABC News Radio at the time of his death, had lured the teenager to his home for sex and given him liquor and cocaine.

Weber had been stabbed an estimated 50 times with a knife in 2009.
