Dragon Boat Report Rows to Gracie Awards Glory
The only winner from outside North America set to be honored tonight in Beverly Hills at the 2011 Gracie Awards hosted by actress Patricia Heaton is an Irish RTE radio documentary, “In the Same Boat.”
Producer Nicoline Greer is in town to accept, along with Fiona Tiernan (pictured), founder of Irish breast cancer dragon boat team the Plurabelle Paddlers. The documentary was first broadcast last fall and tells the compelling story of how Tiernan, a fortysomething Dublin cancer battler, jumped into the sport with no previous experience.
Before Tiernan came along, dragon boating was a non-existent sport in Ireland.
