WJLA GM Bill Lord Announces 'September 30th will be my last day'

Days after an announcement that the FCC approved the sale of WJLA and News Channel 8 along with several other broadcast ventures outside the District to Sinclair Broadcast Group, Bill Lord announced a September 30 departure as GM. A post to FTVLive includes an email from Lord to WJLA and News Channel 8 staff announcing his last day with the company that was owned by Allbritton Communications for nearly four decades. "I have just received word that September 30th will be my last day at WJLA," Lord writes. "Sinclair will be posting the GM position in the morning so I wanted to tell all of you first. I will be here over the next two months to operate the station until a replacement is found." Lord goes on to thank those he's worked with in his 12 years with the outlet, whom he refers to as "mentors." Click through for his full email to staff.
