Dumbass Pitches: USA Today Beats NYT For Grammarly Award

Coming only just behind the Grammy Awards in terms of prestige are the Grammarly Awards. USA Today won three this morning.

Actually, no one’s ever heard of the Grammarly Awards because it’s not a real thing. It’s a corny little pitch that was sent out today by Grammarly, a grammar-checking software, using last night’s Grammy Awards as a hook.

But despite being so dopey, it was kind of charming. And it’s worth noting that USA Today beat out other publications, including the NYT, in several categories like “Most Accurate Writing.”

“Grammarly, which checks for more than 250 types of spelling, grammar and punctuation errors, enhances vocabulary usage, and suggests citations, audited ten top news publications for accuracy in grammar, spelling, and punctuation,” the pitch says.
