The Hill Makes Senior Management Changes

Finkelstein, Chairman of Capitol Hill Publishing Corp., has announced three key promotions in the company's senior management. Francine McMahon, Associate Publisher of The Hill, has been promoted to Publisher and Executive Vice-President. McMahon joined The Hill in 1997. Ms. McMahon previously worked at The Weekly Standard, Roll Call and Congressional Quarterly. "Francine's accomplishments have been remarkable," Mr. Finkelstein said. "She has been with The Hill from almost the very beginning and, under her leadership, the company's revenues have increased dramatically. Her efforts have been instrumental in establishing The Hill and THEHILL.COM as the premier sources for information for Congress and for those interested in Congress." Hugo Gurdon, Editor in Chief of The Hill newspaper, has also been promoted to Executive Vice-President, a position in which he will oversee the company's rapid expansion in a variety of new media. Gurdon will also remain in charge of the newspaper's editorial content and production. Mr. Gurdon arrived at The Hill in 2002 after more than two decades in journalism, having previously worked at The Daily Telegraph (UK) and National Post (Canada). When Gurdon joined The Hill, the newspaper was published only once per week. Now, while Congress is in session, The Hill publishes four times a week. On the Web, Gurdon has already helped make THEHILL.COM the most highly trafficked Web site serving Capitol Hill and will be launching a new Web site in the next month. "Hugo is one of the finest editors you'll find anywhere," Mr. Finkelstein said. "He has not only made The Hill the most important publication on the Hill, but has also made THEHILL.COM the preeminent Web Site covering Congress." Sheila Casey has been promoted from Chief Financial Officer to the post of Chief Operating Officer. In her new role, Casey will oversee the day-to-day operations at The Hill's headquarters in Washington D.C.. Casey joined The Hill in 1997. She has previously worked at Grant Thornton. "Sheila has done a brilliant job as the company's CFO," Finkelstein said. "As The Hill and Capitol Hill Publishing diversifies into multiple new platforms, Sheila will be responsible for overseeing, managing and coordinating efforts across all of the company's endeavors." Mr. Finkelstein noted that while the company's performance has been impressive in the past few years, The Hill and Capitol Hill Publishing are on the threshold of far greater growth. "In the last three years, revenues at Capitol Hill Publishing have more than doubled," Mr. Finkelstein said. "With the launch of a variety of new initiatives under our new leadership structure we are confident that we will continue this growth."
