The Note reports that Charles Gibson started anchoring a daily "Countdown to Vote 2006" webcast today at 12:30pm. He will "kick things around with George Stephanopoulos and Mark Halperin." (via TVNewser) Hugh Hewitt interviewed Mark Halperin and uncovered some... umm... interesting tidbits about the ABC Political Director. Tristram Shandy has more. It's monthly cable ratings day at TVNewser and you know what that means: FNC celebrates 250 weeks at #1; CNBC has the best Business Day in 30 months; and MSNBC is up in primetime. Fox News announced today that Brit Hume "kicks-off" FNC's midterm coverage on Election Day, beginning at 6 p.m. with Special Report and continuing throughout the evening with You Decide 2006, including Fred Barnes, Mort Kondracke, Juan Williams, Bill Kristol, Michael Barone, Carl Cameron, Major Garrett, Megyn Kendall and Bret Baier. According to an NBC release, ""NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" was the "top-rated network evening newscast, winning the week of October 23-27, 2006 in all categories." Williams led ABC's "World News with Charles Gibson" by 6% and had a 21% lead over CBS's "Evening News with Katie Couric." Meanwhile, an ABC release states that Gibson placed second for the week, although it had 1.09 million more Total Viewers than the CBS 'Evening News,' the largest gap between the two broadcasts in more than 8 months." CNN touts its midterm coverage as "unrivaled." America Votes 2006 will begin Election Day at 7 p.m. and run until midnight, featuring Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper, Lou Dobbs and Paula Zahn live from New York. CNN Radio will also be on deck with Dick Uliano from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Lisa Goddard from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. C-SPAN's debate coverage continues today with four more debates, including the live CO Gov. debate live at 10 p.m. Dr. Ralph Hanson offers another look at how the media deals with disability and illness.
