Ta-Nehisi Coates Wins 2015 Genius Grant

"All they said was 'Let's go.'"

“Shout out to @TheAtlantic,” begins a tweet from The Atlantic national correspondent Ta-Nehisi Coates after it was announced he was part of the 2015 class of MacArthur Fellows, “who never said to me ‘Reparations? Who cares about that?’ All they said was ‘Let’s go.'”

Coates is referring, of course, to The Case for Reparations, his epic June 2014 cover story for The Atlantic about the effects of racism and racist policies on African Americans throughout America’s history–a story that was still being discussed and dissected weeks after its publication.
