SHOCKER: CQ Roll Call Lays Off Veteran D.C. Reporter

Lingering details about CQRC‘s avalanche of layoffs continue to pour in. Despite the hope being that no one in editorial would be touched, among those laid off Tuesday was Richard E. Cohen, considered by many to be the dean of the congressional press corps. Cohen, who came to Roll Call in July of 2011, spent 37 years at National Journal magazine, where he was the chief congressional correspondent, before leaving in 2010. He did a brief stint at Politico as their senior congressional reporter and then joined CQ Roll Call as the House leadership reporter.
