Sean Spicer Will Be White House Press Secretary
Hope Hicks, Jason Miller and Dan Scavino will be part of the communications team.
As had been expected, Donald Trump has chosen Republican National Committee chief strategist Sean Spicer as press secretary, a role that The Washington Post’s Elise Viebeck describes as “likely to be a challenging position given Trump’s sometimes hostile relationship with the media and his propensity to bypass staff to communicate directly with the public on Twitter.” That latter part is described by NY Mag’s Adam K. Raymond as “the honor of explaining to the media the meaning of Donald Trump’s tweets.”
Joining Spicer on this journey are Hope Hicks, who had been campaign press secretary and will now be director of strategic communications, Jason Miller, a senior communications advisor for the campaign who will be communications director, and Dan Scavino, Trump’s director of social media who will be same.
