On Friday, Kelly Lindner, their National Account Manager, walked out after 17 years. The scene was tense and she did not leave amicably. She is the 11th woman to leave in recent weeks.
The publication maintains that the departures have nothing to do with gender. Some top women presently at Roll Call on the editorial side include Christina Bellantoni, managing editor Katie Smith, and Politics Editor Lauren Whittington. There have been four new female hires in the past month: Shira Toeplitz (returning from her year abroad at Politico), Janie Lorber, Amanda Becker and Cyra Master.
“While we don’t comment on individual personnel matters, CQ Roll Call continues to recruit the best talent in the business, and we encourage ambitious, hard-working men and women to apply and work for us,” said Rebecca Gale, Director of Promotions and a relatively new hire who started with CQ-Roll Call in January.
Correction: The above has been corrected to reflect that Kelly Lindner is National Account Manager, not VP of Sales & Events, a role which she previously occupied.
