Roland Martin to Impart Wisdom to Graduates

If talking with him in regular conversation is any indication, a graduation speech by TV's bubbly, outspoken Roland Martin won't be boring. Martin's got three graduation gigs coming up in May and he has given FishbowlDC a glimpse into what he may be moved to say (see below). Those speeches could change. He wrote in an e-mail, "I don't write speeches. I simply allow God to move me the appropriate way based upon the moment. Then I let 'er rip! LOL." His credentials: Syndicated columnist, a host and managing Editor of "Washington Watch with Roland Martin," on the TV One Cable Network; CNN Political analyst; and senior analyst for "The Tom Joyner Morning Show." FIRST SPEECH: Building Your Dream Life "Have you ever thought about your dream house, dream wife or dream husband or dream family? So what about building your dream life?" (More after the jump...) SECOND SPEECH: Your Legacy Begins Now "The second aspect is that we often talk about great people based on the legacy they created. What if we begin to think about our legacy now? I want to challenge the students to think of their legacy as husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, aunts, uncles, and then workers. No day is promised, and every day holds the promise of great things and the ability to make a difference in this world." THIRD SPEECH: Living A Life Outside the Box "Lastly, I want them to build their dream life and establish a legacy outside the box. Dr. King just wanted to be a preacher. They can sketch it out, work on the foundation and see the walls rise from where there was simply a plot of land. Going through life aimlessly is the same as building a house with no blueprint: it will lead to utter chaos. I want them to imagine that dream life and build towards it and create a legacy their children's children will be proud of." Never allow any one box to contain you, your vision, your desire to be something great."
