Reuter's Hires CQ Roll Call's Barbash

Reuters has hired Fred Barbash away from CQ Roll Call to be the Domestic Policy Editor. He comes to Reuters from CQ Roll Call where he was Managing Editor of CQ Weekly for two years. Barbash has certainly made the rounds in this town. He has worked at WaPo, Politico, CQ Roll Call, the Medill School of Journalism and now Reuters. Congratulations to Barbash! From Reuters: Reuters is pleased to announce the appointment of Fred Barbash as Editor, Domestic Policy. Beginning next month he will work out of the Washington, DC bureau and will report to Bureau Chief Mary Milliken. Most recently, Barbash has served as managing editor of CQ Weekly, the magazine about Congress published by CQ Roll Call, a division of the Economist Group. Before that he was a senior editor at Politico, where he was creator and moderator of The Arena, a popular forum for debate on national policy and politics. Barbash spent much of his career at The Washington Post where he worked as National Editor, London Bureau Chief, Deputy Metro Editor and reporter on a variety of beats, including the Supreme Court. From 2006 to 2008 he taught at Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism. He is also the author of The Founding: A Dramatic Account of the Writing of the Constitution (Linden Press/Simon & Schuster), as well as numerous articles on constitutional history. From CQ Roll Call: To the news staff: As many of you have heard, Fred Barbash is leaving CQ Roll Call to join Thomson Reuters as an editor in their Washington bureau, handling domestic policy coverage. Fred’s been with our company for two years and has done some great work as editor of the Weekly in that time. He has conceived of and edited most of the magazine’s cover stories, and even written a couple of his own. He’s not only a creative and thoughtful editor, he’s also a wonderful colleague, and we’ll miss him a lot. Fred will be with us through the first week of June. In the meantime, we will be looking for a magazine editor, a job that we’ll be posting shortly. Susan
