Puff, Puff, Pass: NY Newspapers Endorse Booker-Paul-Gillibrand Medical Marijuana Bill
The bill would change how marijuana is treated on a federal level by allowing families in states where medical marijuana is legal to access treatment without the fear of federal prosecution.
Several New York-based newspapers have thrown in their support for a bipartisan medical marijuana bill introduced by Senators Cory Booker, Kirsten Gillibrand and Rand Paul on Tuesday.
The bill would change how marijuana is treated on a federal level by allowing families in states where medical marijuana is legal to access treatment without the fear of federal prosecution.
The New York Times opinion page published an editorial yesterday entitled “A Sensible Bill on Medical Marijuana,” while several other editorials and a column wrote:
Daily News: “When federal law trails too far behind the reality of Americans and their state laws, it’s not just retrograde — it’s cruel…For those in need, change can’t come soon enough…Booker, Gillibrand and Paul’s bill is an overdue step away from cruel, crazy choices imposed by Washington.”
