Corresponding with today’s first ever White House Summit on Working Families, President Barack Obama penned “Family-Friendly Workplace Policies Are Not Frills — They’re Basic Needs” for The Huffington Post on the challenges of working parents and how the country can properly address them.
“Family leave, childcare, flexibility and a decent wage aren’t frills,” writes Obama. “They’re basic needs. They shouldn’t be bonuses — they should be the bottom line.”
The all day event at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Woodley Park is sponsored by the Center for American Progress, The White House, and the U.S. Department of Labor and is set to include the President, First Lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden.
