President Barack Obama's Statement on ISIL
President Barack Obama Tuesday morning addressed the nation on the previous night’s airstrikes against ISIL in Syria.
“Last night on my orders America’s armed forces began strikes against ISIL targets in Syria,” the president said in his opening from the South Lawn. “Today, the American people gives thanks for the extraordinary service of our men and women in uniform.”
“We were joined in this action by our friends and partners. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain, and Qatar,” said Obama.
