Internet TV is the new frontier and Politico is clawing its way in.
Talking with Beet.TV, Politico Executive Editor Jim VandeHei said the publication’s staff will be “investing more money, more resources” in online video reporting. The publication is planning more on-camera spot interviews and short news shows. The goal is to “help people better understand politics, both the serious side [and] the fun side,” he said.
Of course most of Politico‘s reporters are more familiar with typing their stories, not talking about them in front of a camera. VandeHeeHaw said it’s “one of the hardest things” to get the reporters to act natural. “You stick a camera in front of somebody’s face and they instantly think they have to be Tom Brokaw,” he said in the deepest Brokaw voice he could manage.
