NPR Adds to Its Programming Team

Steve Nelson and N’Jeri Eaton join, while Israel Smith gets a promotion.

Beginning Aug. 8, NPR brings on two to its programming division while promoting one. Details below.

Steve Nelson, who is coming on as director of programming, will be responsible for developing weekend shows as well as podcasts. He is joining NPR from American Public Media, where he is the director of on-demand programming. During his time at APM, he helped launch its Infinite Guest podcast network.

Nelson replaces Israel Smith in this role, who is upped to senior director of promotion and audience development.

N’Jeri Eaton comes to NPR from the Independent Television Service, where she has been the content development and initiative manager.
