New Uber SVP David Plouffe and Uber CEO Join Bloomberg TV's 'Street Smart'

Screen Shot 2014-08-19 at 18.31.15Shortly after today’s announcement that David Plouffe, the former campaign manager of President Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential bid, would join Uber next month as SVP of policy and strategy, Plouffe and Uber CEO Travis Kalanick were guests on Bloomberg Television’s “Street Smart.”

Bloomberg’s Trish Regan opened by asking Kalanick about his hiring of Plouffe, a recent Bloomberg Television contributor, and what he’ll be doing in his role, and Plouffe, how he’ll leverage national campaign management experience on a global scale.

The anchor then transitioned the focus to accusations from competitor Lyft that Uber ordered and canceled nearly 5,000 rides and that drivers have been upset with ‘changing discount rates.’
