NBC News' Deborah Turness: 'The time had come'
In an interview with Bill Carter for The New York Times, NBC News president Deborah Turness further explained the replacement of David Gregory with Chuck Todd as host of “Meet the Press.”
“The time had come for this to happen,” Turness told Carter.
On Thursday, CNN’s Brian Stelter broke news that the Todd replacement of Gregory would be made within 48 hours. Less than three hours later, Gregory bid farewell to the network on Twitter.
After weeks of speculation, Turness said, “The numbers just didn’t move,” of the network’s attempts to better the ratings of the longest running television program in the country.
