NEWSPAPERS | TV | RADIO | ONLINE | NEWS NOTES | JOBS NEWPAPERS NYT moves into the digital era. New plans include implementing technology to make the newspaper's site easier to read on a cell phone. Also on the NYT- executive salaries will remain the same they have since 2006. McClatchy's Miami Herald will cut about 175 jobs and reduce the salaries of the remaining staff. From AP: layoffs include 33 full-time and eight part-time positions in the newsroom and staffers who survive the layoffs will endure pay cuts- 5 percent for those making between $25,000 and $50,000, and 10 percent for those earning more- starting March 23. Hearst papers is considering decreasing page numbers and increasing subscription prices. From the Christian Science Monitor: "Newspapers failures are old news. It's time to focus on solutions." TV More reality tv coming to DC? Producers are casting, says the Reliable Source. From ABC, "As Economy Falls, Recession TV Revs Up." Networks are apparently greenlighting more pilots about tough times. Salon takes a look at bizarro CNBC in "Why is Jim Cramer shouting at me?" It was actually the first time writer Gabriel Winant had watched the cable business network. In light of Jon Stewart v. Jim Cramer, the Daily Beast brings us 7 of the Best Cable-TV Feuds. RADIO Radio Online reports: Air America Media has formed a syndication division to distribute programming outside of its Liberal Talk network offerings, under Senior VP/Programming Bill Hess. Air America Media Syndication will launch on March 22nd with its first offering, a weekend show entitled "Newsweek On Air," a 27-year-old program from the staff of Newsweek magazine. ONLINE The future of investigative journalism is online, according to the Columbia Journalism Review. NEWS NOTES DC Mayor Adrian Fenty opens up to Carol Joynt in the Q&A Cafe at Nathans in Georgetown. America's favorite pilot, Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger has landed a two-deal, $3 million book deal yesterday. And the second book is going to be poetry. More on the Daily Beast.
