Who Broke the Menendez Hooker Story?

The top news story on The Daily Caller's website this morning involves more of the tawdry happenings of Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) and those pesky Dominican hookers. The latest stories include the more serious assertions that Menendez had sex with underage prostitutes, and that he likes the "youngest and newest girls." The senator alleges complete innocence. One thing you can say about political sex scandals -- they're never normal, boring affairs involving a couple of drunken coworkers and they're never particularly well planned. Instead, the pol solicits sex with a cop in an airport bathroom, his name is Weiner and he snaps a picture of his ding dong, sends it to a woman clear across the country and then can't remember if it's his, he has alleged sex with an underage page, or he sends a shirtless picture of himself to a woman on Craigslist. But who broke the Menendez hooker story? In a story this morning on Breitbart.com, promoted by Breitbart Editor-in-Chief and Counsel Joel Pollack, the illustrious Matthew Boyle writes a short post blasting Media Matters for not covering the Menendez story. More pointedly, in case you didn't know, his Menendez story, the one he broke back in November, 2012. Who could forget those spectacular videos of the alleged prostitutes describing their sexy time with Señor Menendez. To protect the women in the videos, they used what looked to be big, white balloons to conceal their faces. The cleavage and jiggling breasts? They left those hanging out. "Was the senator friendly?" the translator in the video asked. "How was the senator, romantico or no?" But getting back to the point of Boyle's story -- which is, of course, twofold. 1. Blasting Media Matters, sort of like breathing for right-wing websites. 2. Boyle, who, in a quick five-graph story reminds readers twice that he broke the story. In his piece, Boyle runs the mission of Media Matters, which is to "analyze, monitor and correct conservative misinformation in the U.S. media." Could it be they have nothing to correct? We reached out to Media Matters on the matter. UPDATE: Media Matters declined to comment at this time.
