Judy Woodruff Joins PBS' "Newshour" As Senior Correspondent

Broadcast journalist Judy Woodruff will join The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer as a senior correspondent effective February 5, it was announced today by Linda Winslow, executive producer of The NewsHour. Woodruff will lead in-studio discussions, report from the field and conduct interviews for The NewsHour, as well as serve as a back-up anchor to Jim Lehrer.

The addition of Woodruff complements The NewsHour’s existing ensemble of talented and highly-regarded senior correspondents, which includes Jeffrey Brown, Gwen Ifill, Ray Suarez and Margaret Warner.

Woodruff, who has covered every presidential election since 1976, will also serve as editor of The NewsHour’s 2008 political coverage, which will encompass the upcoming presidential primary campaigns and elections, 2008 convention coverage and the 2008 presidential election.
