Say hello to Jason Reich, editor of the comedy news site 23/6. Before joining 23/6, he spent six years as a writer with The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. What word do you routinely misspell? Recommendation. I always want to put two C's in it. So anyone who asks me for one is going to be severely disappointed. What's the name of your cell phone ring? It's called "24" because it's an audio sample from the TV show of the telephone ring at CTU headquarters. You know ... bip-bip-BEEE-boop. What time did you get up this morning? 7:00 am. I hit snooze. Then I got up again at 7:09. Then 7:18, 7:27, 7:36 and 7:45. When did you last cry, and why? A few minutes ago, after reading this list of questions. How many e-mails a do you receive a day, roughly? Maybe 100? I would say 20-30 of them are pitches and the rest of them are the staff writing dirty jokes back and forth to each other. What's your favorite letter? Everyone knows K is the funniest letter. My mother, for trying so hard to talk me into going to law school that I became even more determined to be a comedy writer. When's the last time you volunteered? Where? Last month I worked with the International Radio and Television Society for their internship program that brings kids from across the country to New York to live and work here for a few months. Is that lame? I wish I could say I built houses in New Orleans or something. This question is kind of humbling. Who is your favorite active journalist? NY1's Pat Kiernan. "In The Papers" is the best thing on television. What did you have for breakfast? Coffee, with a side of coffee. What one toiletry item could you not live without? GroomMate stainless steel nose hair trimmer, and I'm not ashamed to say it. If you could have one superpower, which one would it be? The ability to roll back time. Please note, this is different than time travel, because I wouldn't be making copies of myself or running into younger versions of me. I'd just want to basically turn the clock back so I could not say whatever dumb thing I just said, or order something different off the menu, stuff like that. I've given this a lot of thought. Red or white wine? Gin. PG-13 or R? Unrated director's cut. Lincoln, Jefferson or Washington Memorial? I'm partial to the Jefferson. Leg or breast (chicken, of course)? When it comes to chicken, I've always been more of an ass man. Friday night or Saturday night? Saturday. "Wedding Crashers" or "Old School"? "Wedding Crashers" for its Shavian socialist polemics, but "Old School" for its tragicomic, post-structuralist overtones. The Palm of Cafe Milano? You buying? Jenna or Barbara? Chelsea. The naughty appeal of the First Drunks wore off pretty quick, and you gotta admit, Chelsea is lookin' pretty fine these days. McSteamy or McDreamy? I have a vague understanding that these are characters on Grey's Anatomy, but beyond that, I really couldn't tell you. I'll say McSteamy because it sounds hotter. Leno or Letterman? Letterman, by far. Stewart or Colbert? They're both great, but considering I worked for Jon Stewart for nearly a decade, I have a special fondness for the Daily Show. Boxers or briefs? Boxers. But no pants.
