Jake Tapper's State of the Union Debut: A Tale of 2 Timeslots
A rerun that beat the original.
At its 9:00 a.m. ET original airtime last Sunday, Tapper’s debut as host of CNN’s State of the Union drew 381,000 total viewers, 62,000 of which were in the A25-54 demo, according to Nielsen. Compared to the same day last year, the show was down -11 percent in viewers and down -57 percent in the demo.
It appears the crowded field of Sunday morning news and public affairs shows is boxing out the early edition of SOTU.
