Rumors continue to swirl that David Gregory is out as host of NBC’s “Meet the Press” in this morning’s POLITICO Playbook.
“Top political sources” suggest to Playbook that Chuck Todd will replace Gregory, with an announcement being made in the coming weeks.
From today’s Playbook:
“The move is an effort by NBC News President Deborah Turness to restore passion and insider cred to a network treasure that has been adrift since the death in 2008 of the irreplaceable Tim Russert. … It’s unclear whether Gregory or Todd knows about the big move, likely to be in place before year’s end.”
The New York Post’s “Page Six” first reported in late July that Gregory may soon be replaced. The Daily Beast’s Lloyd Grove later wrote in a follow-up piece that, “In multiple conversations that I had with people inside and outside NBC after the item appeared, it was taken as a given that Gregory is toast.”
