Hottest Media Types: OMG. It's. Like. <I>Totally</I> Happening.

Today. It's the Fourth Annual FishbowlDC Hottest Media Types competition. We've burned the midnight oil rummaging through all of your nominations (1,000+ at last count), tracking down photos, assessing your hotness and laughing our butts off at some of the descriptions (a favorite: "I guarantee she's the hottest woman working in the Press Building downtown. At the Radio and Television dinner I introduced her to one of my colleagues who described her aptly as the 'pretty mermaid girl.' I thought that was pretty awesome.") All throughout today, we'll be rolling out the 2008 FishbowlDC Hottest Media Types finalists (voting begins tomorrow). We've got lots of new faces (sorry Hadley, Travers, Hendren, Norah, Wolffe, Abbi, Yellin, Dickerson, Stephanopolous, Henry and the rest of you perenially beautiful people), from young to old (to satisfy that curmudgeonly White House reporter who's not a fan of "24 year old blondes that no one's ever heard of"), from whole bread to gangsta (one nominee's been shot three times!) and, in the spirit of Kriston Capps, some of "those indie people." So that we don't get flooded with emails today, we'll go ahead and answer your inevitable questions after the jump... Dude, Gavin, why the f wasn't I a finalist? Do you live in DC? Are you a journalist? If you said "no" to those two questions, you weren't in contention. No, I am a journalist and I do live in DC and I still wasn't nominated. It's not entirely my decision. To avoid the grief of, well, people like you, we pick a few local journo types to help narrow the list down to the finalists. Dude, who are those other judges? I want to kill them. Not going to tell you, although we will say that one ate pineapple pizza last night, one other claims that Bruce Springsteen is way overrated and one more insisted that we put her intern on the list, but was voted down. But, again, dude, why didn't I make the cut? Did you get nominated? If not, you weren't in contention. No, NO! I did get nominated. How do you know? How do I know? Er, well, okay, I'll admit it: I asked my college roommate -- JoeyJohn1298@yahoo.com -- to nominate me. Did you have an easily accessible picture? Did you respond to our requests to find one? If you answered "no" to both questions, then your chances were hurt. But I DID -- well, JoeyJohn1298@yahoo.com did -- send along a picture, too! Then you're not hot. Or a journalist. Or you've been nominated in the past. Or that pineapple pizza just didn't sit well with one judge when your picture came up. Life is not tidy, sometimes. When does voting begin? Tomorrow.
