TIPS FROM THE POOL…INTO THE DEEP END

It’s a momentus day. No, New York City hasn’t run out of hot dogs. But the White House has finally commented on WeinerGate.

In a Pool Report by Politico‘s Carrie Budoff Brown, White House Spokesman Jay Carney says President Obama thinks Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) is, to put it mildly, a distraction. Carney doesn’t really answer the question of whether Obama is calling for Weiner’s resignation unless “distraction” is code for “Resign Now, Weiner!” As you’ll note at the bottom of his quotes, Carney responds curtly to a reporter who specifically asks if the congressman ought to resign, saying, “I answered that question.”
