Dear Readers: This morning’s quotations of the day are warmly dedicated to Slate‘s Dave Weigel, who boldly walked off the beaten path yesterday and unblocked FishbowlDC from his Twitter account. It has been a long time coming. Feels like centuries. We sit in amazement that it all began, in part, with a hug. While Mediaite‘s Tommy Christopher has referred to this trying time as the ending of a “Cold War,” I prefer to think of it as a magazine writer described it to me at a media reception last week: a thawing.
