As his friends gathered around Ivan Scott’s bed at George Washington Hospital on Sunday, the wife in the best-known husband-wife team of White House correspondents (Puerto Rico-born Sarah broadcast for a Spanish-language station, Ivan for WTOP-Radio in Washington) recalled how so many who knew the reporter had written him upon learning the news that late last year, shortly after the Scotts’ 50th wedding anniversary, Ivan had undergone surgery for a brain tumor.
