For The Arizona Republic, Death Threats and Cancelled Subscriptions Follow Hillary Clinton Endorsement

In its 126 years of existence, The Arizona Republic has never endorsed a Democratic candidate for president, until Tuesday, when the paper’s editorial board endorsed Hillary Clinton for president. That move has led to cancelled subscriptions, and in a troubling development–death threats.

“We’re getting a lot of reaction both locally and national,” Arizona Republic editorial director Phil Boas told KPNX in Phoenix. “I don’t believe true readers of the editorial page are surprised by this at all, because over the past year we have been writing scathing, scalding articles about Donald Trump.”
