Fear Not Football! Daniel Flynn Will Save You!

If you thought sports was the one area in American public life relatively immune from politicization, think again. Breitbart.com announced yesterday that author Daniel Flynn is coming on as editor of Breitbart Sports. Flynn is most well known for his book, The War on Football: Saving America's Game, which attempts to refute the slew of negative stories reported recently about the health effects the game has on players, and the NFL's handling of the situation. To say that Flynn's reporting style is combative is a bit of an understatement -but perhaps that's appropriate for his new beat. “Dan Flynn is a historian who has built his career by conducting deep-dive research to debunk myths fed to Americans by the media class, in the sports world and beyond,” said Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow. “His knowledge base, natural skepticism, and abundant energy make him an ideal person to lead our coverage of sports and enable Breitbart to penetrate the sports media echo chamber serving as gateway to introduce a new audience to the Breitbart News brand.” We're not sure how sports fans will take to the Breitbart News brand, but the NFL commissioners, at least, will probably be glad to have Flynn around. Flynn, the author of The War on Football: Saving America’s Game, as the new Editor of Breitbart Sports. “Breitbart News and Breitbart Sports have never shied away from shedding the wolf-pack of journalists and going lone-wolf when the truth demands it,” said Flynn. “Having spent much of the last year rebelling against pack journalism's attack on America's game in my book 'The War on Football: Saving America's Game,' editing Breitbart Sports struck me as a perfect fit. Flynn will be providing Breitbart readers with Super Bowl coverage live from New York and will be reporting from the arena floor at UFC 169 Saturday night. Flynn has already broken several major stories at Breitbart Sports, including a series on football suicides that forced the source of the widely cited statistic that NFL players kill themselves at six times the national average to retract the claim.
