DC Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Karen Sommer Shalett (who has what may be the hardest name to spell in journalism outside of BuzzFeed‘s Andrew Kasduhufdjygvkuyoinzinski) has left the magazine to be Editor-at-Large at the Aspen Institute. She will continue her relationship with DC magazine as a contributor, consulting until an Editor-in-Chief is hired.
In other big changes at the magazine…Katie Wilmeth, formerly of Destination DC and a lifelong Washingtonian, just started as DC magazine’s Senior Editor, “for which we couldn’t be happier” notes Shalett. She replaces Sarah Crosland, who has moved from Washington back to her native Charlotte, N.C. to accept a position overseeing all of the Charlotte Observer‘s magazines. “That made us very proud, as DC magazine continues to be an amazing springboard for exciting endeavors,” said Shalett.
Congratulations to Shalett on her new position.
