HuffPost’s Nico Pitney and WaPo‘s Dana Milbank appeared on CNN’s Reliable Sources with Howard Kurtz yesterday to further discuss Pitney’s Iran question at President Obama’s press conference last week.
Pitney said he was given a heads up from the White House, but said, “From beginning to end, there was no planning involved. I was the one who posted that I was going to be soliciting — that I was soliciting questions from Iranians. I chose the question.”
Milbank: “What I have never done in my life, Howie, is worked in collusion with an administration, whether it’s this one or another one. I believe that whether it’s Nico Pitney, with ‘The Huffington Post,’ or whether it’s Carl Cameron, with Fox News, the White House should not be calling somebody the night before saying, we are going to call on you if you ask a question on a particular subject asked in a certain way.”
And as things heated up, Pitney called Milbank “pathetic” for posing multiple questions to the President at a campaign stop about how he looked in a bathing suit. At one point Kurtz had to warn them, “You two are going to have to take this outside.”

As Kurtz pointed out in a Facebook status update later yesterday, there were other guests and topics on the show, including TWT political reporter Amanda Carpenter, discussing coverage of the Sanford emails and ABC’s health care town hall meeting at the White House.
