Former host of “Meet the Press” David Gregory is expected to publish a book on his Jewish faith in 2015, first reported in this morning’s POLITICO Playbook.
“David and I began discussing a potential book about his personal faith and the spiritual journey people take in their lives,” Simon & Schuster Publishing Group president and publisher Jonathan Karp told Mike Allen’s morning tipsheet. “We came to terms on the contract in 2011 and have been working together on the project since then.”
Karp went on to explain that the book will not serve as a memoir to Gregory’s six years as “Meet the Press” host or 20 year career with NBC News.
“Let me emphasize that this book has always been intended as an exploration of an aspect of David’s life that viewers rarely see in his journalistic work,” said Karp in Playbook. “The book was never intended as a memoir about his career. That objective hasn’t changed and will not change. This book will be about the inner spiritual journey many of us take in our lives.”
Last Thursday, NBC News president Deborah Turness announced that Gregory would be replaced as host of the network Sunday morning public affairs program by Chuck Todd.
