Dana Bash Named CNN's Chief Political Correspondent

She will also participate in CNN's Reagan Library debate next month.

Dana Bash has been promoted to the highly-touted position of chief political correspondent, CNN President Jeff Zucker announced Monday morning.

Bash began her CNN career as a library assistant in their DC bureau back in 1993, most recently serving as the network’s chief congressional correspondent. She will assume Candy Crowley‘s former role as chief political correspondent, who departed from CNN back in December.

“Dana is one of the best examples of a true CNN success story,” wrote CNN Washington bureau chief Sam Feist and Washington deputy bureau chief Virginia Moseley in a staff memo.
