The Society of Professional Journalists announced last week that National Journal is the winner of its 2006 Sigma Delta Chi Award for Public Service in Magazine Journalism for Staff Correspondent Corine Hegland’s package of stories on the detainees being held as “enemy combatants” at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The article was published in the February 4, 2006 issue of National Journal.

The Sigma Delta Chi Awards recognize the best in professional journalism, covering print, radio, television, newsletters, photography, online and research.
