Anthony Shadid, Beirut bureau chief of The Washington Post, yesterday was named a winner of the Edward Weintal Prize for International Reporting from Georgetown University’s Institute for the Study of Diplomacy. Carlotta Gall, an Afghanistan-based correspondent for the New York Times, also received the award.

The recipients were cited for their outstanding reporting and analysis over the past year. Casimir Yost, director of the institute, said the journalists “offered clarity and a deeper understanding of the most pressing issues of our time.”
