Coglianese Succeeds Feaver as WaPo Reader Rep

Alison Coglianese will become the Washington Post‘s Reader Representative, succeeding Doug Feaver, WaPo Executive Editor Marty Baron announced today. Coglianese came to the Post in May 2011 as the Ombudsman’s assistant. She became Deputy Reader Representative  to Feaver when they eliminated the Ombudsman position in March 2013, a move which drew some criticism from former Ombudsmen.

Feaver left in January of this year after a tenure of less than a year. The Reader Representative differs from an Ombudsman in that they are a part-time paid employee of the the paper rather than an purely independent voice.
