CNN has hired Jim Sciutto to be their Chief National Security Correspondent. According to a release dispatched this morning, Sciutto “will report and provide analysis on all aspects of U.S. national security, including foreign policy, the military, terrorism, and the intelligence community.”

Washington Bureau Chief Sam Feist made the announcement this morning.

Sciutto was ABC’s senior foreign correspondent and was based in London. In that role, he traveled to and reported from some 50 countries. Most recently, he was chief of staff and senior advisor to the U.S. Ambassador to China, Gary Locke.

The Yale grad began his journalism career at PBS, where he was moderator and producer of a public affairs show.
